The turn of the new and old year represents a magical time for many. We reminisce, take stock, evaluate what we could have done differently, better. At the same time, we anticipate what a variety of new experiences and life circumstances the next year will bring, we make new resolutions and, at least for a while, we try to be better people again. Music has a magical power, it is able to get under one's skin, so to speak, to stimulate deeper emotions, to provide a space for at least a temporary exit from the merry-go-round of life, to enjoy the beauty of the moment...

This time, the end of the year 2024 in the Philharmonic will belong to two leading Slovak vocal soloists, who will come from their foreign locations for the pleasure of the audience. Simona Šaturová excels in the interpretation of Mozart arias and the bel canto repertoire is ideal for her soprano, she has been performing her vocal art on stages all over the world for more than twenty-five years. Jana Kurucová also performed a solo recital at the Slovak Philharmonic last season, and in September she gave a unique performance of the character of the fox Zlatohřbítek at the Slovak National Theatre Opera. Her rich mezzo-soprano role was also recently performed at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Donizetti's Anna Bolena (Giovanna). The gala evenings will be conducted by the new head of the SND Opera, the experienced conductor Rastislav Štúr.
