Johann Joseph Fux entered history mainly as a music theorist and teacher. His treatise Gradus ad Parnassum is an exceptional example of scholarly writing on the margins of Palestrina's polymelodics and counterpoint. However, Fux also sporadically devoted himself to composition, with sacred music predominating. One of the profiling musical figures of the 17th century during his lifetime was Samuel Capricornus, whose work and existence is also closely linked to Bratislava and Slovakia. Giovanni Martino Cesare is historically the first composer of a solo work for sackbut - a Renaissance and Baroque precursor of the trombone. Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, a talented singer and composer, has dedicated her life to God. Her work was written while serving in a Benedictine monastery in Milan, but her works have also been published in print in France and Germany.
