Bohdan Warchal: a small man in stature but huge in spirit, his activities inspired, motivated, and gave joy from music... It is therefore commendable if contemporary musicians pay more attention to his memory. The Czech horn player Radek Baborák is a well-known personality in Slovakia and guarantees a worthy Hommage à Warchal. The masterful string symphonies were written by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy as a teenager. Mozart’s concertos for horn and orchestra are a cornerstone of any experienced player’s repertoire on this demanding instrument; Leon Sinigaglia’s *Romanca was written in the beautiful mountain surroundings of northern Italy, where this author - an enthusiastic mountaineer - loved to go. Dvořák’s Nocturne brings an almost hypnotic atmosphere. The Symphony No. 42 by Joseph Haydn oozes with Haydn’s legendary invention and brilliant ideas.
