Otvárací koncert 55. ročníka BHSBratislava Music Festival 2019 – Opening Concert

In the ambitious programme of the Bratislava Music Festival opening concert the Slovak Philharmonic presents the core of the 19th- and 20th-century symphonic repertory under the baton of its music director James Judd.

Cikker’s symphonic poem Morning was written in the summer of 1946 as the composer’s reflection on the war and its immediate consequences. The ‘Unfinished’ symphony by Franz Schubert (bearing the number seven in new classification) is an iconic work of early music Romanticism, familiar to a wide audience. It was discovered by Robert Schumann several decades after its origination. Brahms’ spectacular Piano Concerto No. 2 from 1881, typical for its monumental symphonicism, is a gem in the stage repertory of pianists of all generations. We will have an opportunity to hear it performed by the celebrated Eugen Indjić, admired by critics because of his consummate technical skills, refined delicacy.
